Rachel Ort Leazenby

I have just learned that a former student of mine, Rachel Ort Leazenby, was killed in a car accident Christmas Eve. I am just stunned. She was actually a Brandywine student, but took my Teaching Academy class at NHS. She married her high school sweetheart, Jon, who was also an NHS student and really great "kid." They were two perfect young adults with a wonderful world ahead of them. Rachel most recently was subbing at area schools and when I last saw her, which was about a month ago, she asked how I was doing--said she prayed for me often. Thank God for her faith--and Jon's too--as I know it will be the only thing to get him through this tragedy. Just an awful awful shame. She was always bubbly, full of energy, smiling and POSITIVE.

Just another reminder to live, laugh and love everyday.

She was my health teacher at Grissom Middle School for the past few weeks... And I just saw her last Friday and it's really depressing to think she's actually gone. She brought her husband as a visitor that day, because his school had a snow day... They just seemed so happy together. She always was energetic and positive. She was truly a great person. She will be missed and never forgotten. : /

Our prayers are with their family. My dad is here with me right now and he said she student taught in his building, Eastside. And Jon went to school there. We are all so sad for their loss, please pass along our heart felt sympathy.

Rachel took my ASL I class at Bethel College. She was a delightful student, always willing and eager to learn. I was shocked at the news too. What a bittersweet loss for us here on earth. Heaven gained a beautiful soul!

That's very sad to hear. My prayers will be with their family as well.
